I'm thriving in this season 🍂
I’m not a pumpkin spice girl, but I do love fall
It’s always been easiest for me to write in the fall, and I think it’s because hunkering down next to a window and a fireplace makes it easy for me to both be inspired and stay inside, all cozy and warm, cupping a mug in my hands.
I’m not a “pumpkin spice latte” girl, and I don’t own one of those wide-brimmed hats, and you probably will never catch me wearing knee-high boots. But, man, I do love fall.
This morning, as I write this post, I’m thinking about the seasons and how they inform our productivity. Fall is the time, at least for me, to start hunkering down more. Gone are the days when I could run outside barefoot. The sun is less intense, the days are shorter, and the wind has more of a bite to it.
And so my business follows nature’s cues. I’m staying inside, I’m working harder and later, and I’m booking out more projects. Not because I feel like I have to, but because I feel like I can.
This is my third year in business, and what I’ve learned is that routines can look different depending on the season. Right now, I feel recharged after a slow summer. I don’t resonate with some people who ask themselves, “how is it already October?” because I’m going along with the seasons, not in spite of them.
Here’s what I’m doing this fall to grow my business (strategically, not randomly):
- Offering a new service to small business owners who need batched content. (Ask me about this. I should be charging more for it, but for now, it’s open to my subscribers and followers at a super accessible price.)
- Batching and carefully planning out my own content. (I’m writing this email several weeks in advance.)
- Re-downloading social media after spending the entire summer without it. (So I can engage with people more.)
Does your business follow the seasons in any way?
If so, what does “fall” look like for yours? I’d love to know!
